Evaluation of the reproducibility of the formetric 4D measurements for scoliosis

چکیده
Introduction Frequent assessment and monitoring of AIS patients is necessary to determine the progression of spinal deformity. Radiographs are used as the standard-of-care for evaluation, but have negative long-term effects. Surface topography is a safer option for assessment in these patients. The Formetric 4D (DIERS, International GmbH of Schlangenbad, Germany) provides fast and radiation-free mages of the spine position using surface topography. The goal of this study was to measure the reproducibility of the Formetric 4D system in measuring trunk dimensions and scoliosis Cobb angles.

Comparison of Radiographic and Surface Topography Measurements in Adolescents with Idiopathic Scoliosis
PURPOSE In patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), radiographic surveillance is the gold standard of assessing spinal deformity, but has negative long-term effects. The Formetric 4D surface topography system was compared to standard radiography as a safer option for evaluating patients with AIS. METHODS Fourteen volunteers with typical AIS patient stature had 30 repeated Formetri...
متن کاملEvaluating the Reproducibility of Motion Analysis Scanning of the Spine during Walking
The Formetric 4D dynamic system (Diers International GmbH, Schlangenbad, Germany) is a rasterstereography based imaging system designed to evaluate spinal deformity, providing radiation-free imaging of the position, rotation, and shape of the spine during the gait cycle. Purpose. This study was designed to evaluate whether repeated measurements with the Formetric 4D dynamic system would be repr...
متن کاملThe influence of body mass index (BMI) on the reproducibility of surface topography measurements
Background Surface Topography can be used to evaluate patients with spinal deformity, especially adolescents with scoliosis in whom a reduced number of radiographic evaluations is desired. The Formetric 4D (Diers International GmbH, Schlangenbad, Germany) is a surface topography system that is able to identify anatomical landmarks and construct a 3-dimentional model of the spine using only surf...
متن کاملRaster-stereographic evaluation of the effects of biomechanical foot orthoses in patients with scoliosis
[Purpose] Little is known about the effects of biomechanical foot orthoses in scoliosis, as determined by raster stereography. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of individually manufactured biomechanical foot orthoses on scoliosis angle, trunk imbalance, and pelvic obliquity by comparing them with general insoles by using DIERS formetric 4 dimensional in patients with sc...
متن کاملA comparison of authomatic vs. manual detection of anatomical landmarks during surface topography evaluation using the formtric 4D system
Background The Formetric 4D System (Diers International GmbH, Schlangenbad Germany) is a popular system for measuring surface topography in patients with adolescent scoliosis [1-4]. The system automatically detects anatomic landmarks on the patient, but then gives the user the opportunity to make adjustments to those landmarks if necessary. The purpose of this study was to see whether there wou...
